Gates of Andaron 3.9 Patchnotes
Patch notes 06/05/2012
New features
Garden of Heaven
The Garden of Heaven is a new territory which can be reached via the portal in the palace of each kingdom (Derion: Bruna’s King’s Palace, Valorian: High King Neban Maha’s Palace). In this area players from the opposing kingdoms can always be attacked. When the war in the Garden of Heaven is not taking place, all gates on the map are open. The Garden of Heaven also contains the portal into the two new instances ‘Hell Flame Labyrinth’ and ‘Marduk’s Nest’.
War in the Garden of Heaven
This new feature has been added to the game for all PvP enthusiasts. It’s the biggest PvP feature in Gates of Andaron and the number of participants is unlimited. The aim of each kingdom is to defeat the leaders and the guards of the opposing kingdom. The war in the Garden of Heaven takes place on Saturdays, 30 minutes after an area conquest. Just before the war starts, all players that are still in the Garden of Heaven will be teleported to their capital city. As soon as the war begins, the gates are closed. As soon as the war is over, a short peace time of 5 minutes is activated, just like during area conquests. This is extended by the remaining duration if the war in the Garden of Heaven finishes before the 40 minutes have elapsed.
Gemstone system
The smiths of Iberia have found a new way to enhance armor and weapons and make them more effective. They can embed magic gemstones, which you can loot from monsters or buy in the cash shop, into armor and weapons. These gemstones increase the skill level of your items by one level. However, no more than five gemstones can be affixed to every weapon or piece of armor. Be careful, for your chances of success are reduced with every gemstone that is worked into the item. As it is fine craftsmanship, all gemstones that are already affixed to your item are destroyed if the process fails.
Hell Flame Labyrinth
The Hell Flame Labyrinth, headquarters of the mighty Firelord Mollek, can be entered via a portal in the Garden of Heaven. Mollek and his followers await groups of high level heroes and pose a threat to every lone fighter. All monsters in the Hell Flame Labyrinth have an increased resistance against skills that cause surface damage and that anesthetise opponents (excluding warrior and night walker skills). So prepare yourself for tough combat. Items from the Hell Flame Labyrinth cannot be used for refining. Additionally the items can only be repaired with the travel tools.
Marduk’s Nest
Marduk, the feared dragon, expects the arrival of frivolous heroes so that he can teach them a lesson. Players of the highest levels that have already mastered the Hell Flame Labyrinth will find more and tougher challenges here. Marduk’s Nest should not be sought out alone, for all monsters here also have a high resistance against skills that cause surface damage or that can anesthetise opponents (excluding warrior and night walker skills). You can find the entrance to Marduk’s Nest via the portal to the Garden of Heaven. You cannot use items from Marduk’s Nest for refining. Additionally the items can only be repaired with the travel tools.
Utility Bar
Don’t know where the next smith or merchant is? Then use the utility bar and your character will automatically run to the next NPC who offers the chosen function.
Further improvements
- Four new hairstyles for every race/gender combination. These can be directly chosen when you create a character or be changed with a cash shop item
- The pearl merchant Rusiela has arrived in Tebekut and is selling her pearls there. Pearls are magical items that can yield all sorts of items when they are shattered. Unfortunately you never know which items will appear.
- There is a reward inbox now. If you get sent mystery boxes for successfully taking part in an area conquest, castle conquest, a war in the Garden of Heaven or a war in the mission maps, they will not appear in your normal inbox anymore but in your reward inbox. You can reach the reward inbox via your normal inbox.
- Endendros' coins can only be swapped for bonus points at specific NPCs (in every capital city). 100 Endendros’ coins are needed to receive 1,000 bonus points. However, the bonus point shop is not available yet. You can start filling your bonus point account now though. When the bonus point shop opens you can start spending immediately.
